Oh man, I am excited to share with you guys these cleaners I have been obsessed with the past few weeks! I am SO bummed I just now started home making my all-purpose cleaners but better late than never right? I have used natural and organic cleaning products the past several years but making them myself is a step up for me! Please trust me when I say these are hands down the BEST spray cleaners I have ever used! I was a huge believer after using the lemon castile on my beige linen dining tables that my toddler had so graciously smeared chocolate all over. No telling how long it had been there and just a couple of sprays and a paper towel, it came right up. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the green smoothie she spilled all over my carpet stairs too. No joke you guys this stuff is legit and best part – no toxic chemicals to worry about being around myself or my family. That means the kids can help clean too!

A little backstory on why we chose to switch to “green cleaning”. About a year after we dove into the real food lifestyle in 2012 and had cleaned up what went into our bodies, it was soon after we started questioning what was going on our bodies. One day I was cleaning the floors with the Swiffer mop and the cleaner that comes with it. I will never forget I got the biggest headache (I typically don’t get headaches often) and it hit me that it was from the stuff I was cleaning with. It was then I realized that probably wasn’t a good sign and I started to connect the dots and researching safer home products. Ultimately over time that grew into safer body and beauty products too and now we are completely switched!

Below are my favorite recipes for all-purpose spray cleaners (added a dish soap too) and I hope you try them out! I realize it is a bit of an investment upfront with purchasing the bottles (which I highly recommend using the glass ones) but once you do it then you don’t have to worry about buying them from the store each month. Plus you are helping the environment by purchasing/using less plastic, yay!

Ingredients for Castile Lemon All-Purpose Spray

  • 2 cups filtered or distilled water
  • 2 TBSP Dr. Bronners Castile Soap
  • 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil

Combine all ingredients in glass spray bottle, give it a gentle shake, and it is ready to use! This cleaner can really be used anywhere but my favorite places are carpet/rugs for stains, dinner table and chairs, counter tops, top of stove, any kind of furniture.

Ingredients for Onguard (Germ Fighting) Vinegar All-Purpose Spray

  • 1 cup filtered or distilled water
  • 1 cup regular white vinegar
  • 15 drops Onguard Essential Oil (or any germ fighting oil- linked below)

Combine all ingredients in glass spray bottle, give it a gentle shake, and it is ready to use! This cleaner can also be used most places but I have heard not to use vinegar on granite or marble counter tops so I use the lemon castile for that. My favorite places to use the Onguard Vinegar is toilets, bathroom cleaning, stainless steel(or any kind) kitchen appliances, door knobs and even doors where their are little hand prints.
