The first time my family went to Juice Bar we were so amazed at how good the juices and smoothies tasted! They make all of their smoothies with real food ingredients(no powders!) and use mostly organic ingredients. Even though we are very loyal customers at our local JuiceBar (we typically visit when running errands and need something to tide us over or when I don’t have time to cook a meal), I usually make the bulk of our smoothies at home. Back to the first time we went there…I got the Sweet Greens juice, and my husband and toddler got the PB&J smoothie. Both of them slurped theirs down before we got out the door! I did try theirs and I have to say it was pretty good. The next few days my toddler, Lily, kept asking for another “pink smoothie” like she and Daddy had. I thought to myself I can totally make this at home with ingredients I already have on hand. So over the next week, I had tested different variations of this smoothie and finally, after a few trials I had perfected it. Mom’s of little ones often ask me what is a good smoothie recipe to start out with when introducing them to their kids. Every time I recommend this one! It is a pretty and fun color and tastes sweet. You can gradually work towards adding in good fats & protein, vegetables, and leafy greens. Here’s the recipe, enjoy y’all!
1 tbsp strawberry jam(*optional but tasty-I use this)
Optional Add ins- 1 tbsp chia seeds, flax seeds, or hemp seeds. 1/2 – 1 cup spinach(won’t change the taste but will change the color)
Pour in the liquids first, then frozen fruit and remaining ingredients. Blend in high power blender til smooth. If the consistency is too thin for you, add a couple of more frozen strawberries and hunk of banana to thicken.
*Recommend organic ingredients when obtainable.
