If you are looking to add some new and nutritious staples to your pantry I highly recommend some of these listed below! I am going to list some health benefits so we know why we should add them and what exactly we are getting out of them.

Goji berries are high in fiber, protein, and contain several vitamins and minerals such as copper, iron, zinc, and vitamins A & C. Some of the benefits of consuming goji berries include helping prevent cancer growth, anti-aging, improving blood sugar control, boosting energy levels and helping with natural weight loss, and improving cholesterol levels. We love the way they taste too!

Mulberries are high in iron, riboflavin, vitamins C & K, potassium, and calcium. Mulberries aid in digestion while reducing constipation, bloating, and cramping occurrences,  increases blood circulation and regulates blood pressure, improves vision, acts as a natural immune booster, builds healthy bones, and helps prevent premature aging. Are you convinced to add these nutrient packed berries into your diet yet?! I sure am!

Golden berries are high in fiber with zero grams of fat, high in vitamin A which we know are important for healthy vision and healthy skin, but the most value in this fruit is going to be the significant amount of antioxidants they contain.

“According to Dr. Gökçen Yıldız, Nazmi İzli report published in the Journal of Food Science Technology, the most important benefits of golden berries are derived from their high antioxidant content, which makes them an ideal nutritional supplement for all kinds of ailments. Like the carotenoids and polyphenolic compounds, antioxidants found in goldenberries can neutralize free radicals, the damaging by-products of cellular metabolism that can cause healthy cells to mutate into cancerous ones. This is the quality that makes golden berries a “superfood”. Research has shown that polyphenols can stop the spread of various types of cancers , making it a very important food source in many parts of the world.”

I hope you have learned some new things about some really great nutrient dense foods that would be worth adding into your family’s bodies! This granola is such an easy way to start with plus it is extremely kid-friendly!

  • Goji Berries
  • Mulberries
  • Golden Berries
  • Almonds
  • Pecans
  • Pepita Seeds(Pumpkin)
  • Cacao Chunks

Mix 1/4 cup of each and mix together. Store in air tight container for up to several weeks.

*Alternatively you can substitute unsweetened dried cranberries in place of goji berries, they will not have the same nutritional value but are less expensive. Cacao chunks can be replaced with chocolate chips(I recommend an organic version or we love Enjoy Life brand). You can also replace the almonds and pecans with cashews and/or walnuts if you prefer those instead!
